See how we infer and gauge how we are doing from such a trivial thing -like whether the boss says hello  grumpily, happily, or not at all? Although it may be totally irrational, it is also a completely human behavior.  I don&#039;t think supervisors are so aware of the fact that little things they do may have a big impact on their staff. I guess that is where some kind of code can help. It can be a reminder. More libraries should have this kind of code I think as it can really help an organization if it is consistently followed. </description>

		<description>I agree that the supervisor&#039;s attitude impacts the employee&#039;s attitudes as well.  However, I think something can be said for consistency.  I&#039;ve had supervisors in the past who were completely inconsistent with saying hello to me in the morning.  Sometimes she&#039;d purposefully say it, other times she&#039;d begrudgingly respond to me, sometimes she&#039;d completely ignore me.  This inconsistency left me perpetually trying to figure out what my standing was in the organization.  It probably was just her changing moods, but supervisors should attempt to be consistent and clear with their staff--even down to either consistently saying good morning or not saying it at all.</description>
